Spider Leg Veins
Many women and men develop unsightly leg veins. Genetics is the number one cause, although pregnancy, weight gain and prolonged standing are also risk factors.
There are 3 types of unwanted leg veins: purple, red or blue tiny dilated spider veins; greenish-blue larger reticular veins; and bulging tortuous varicose veins.
Leg veins tend to recur, so regular maintenance treatment may be required.
What we can do
Sclerotherapy is a safe, affordable, effective way to improve unsightly spider leg veins. Medication is injected into these small unwanted veins by Dr. O’Neill at our Mississauga clinic over a series of visits. Improvement is seen in 8 to 12 weeks on average. Wearing support hose, exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight are important to reduce developing new veins.
Laser vein therapy
Fine red vessels, (sometimes called mat telangiectasia or blushes), may be effectively treated by laser therapy. Light energy targets the red color of these vessels, causing them to safely disappear.
