As a female cosmetic dermatologist, I am constantly asked about skin care products to improve skin health. I consider the following 5 items essential to optimize your skin care.
Sunscreen: look for SPF 30 or greater, “broad spectrum”, UVA and UVB protection.
Essential Growth Factors: this is like “toothpaste” – something you should use everyday. Usually a serum, and will contain peptides, antioxidants, and growth factors. I like to apply mine under my sunscreen every morning.
Retinol: the non-prescription retinol products promote collagen more gently and with less dryness than a prescription strength retinoid
Exfoliate: you can achieve this with chemical exfoliators such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid, or by mechanical exfoliation such as
microdermabrasion or cleansing scrubs.
Targeted Ingredients: is your skin dry? Do you have fine lines? Unwanted pigmentation? At O’Neill Cosmetic Dermatology my staff and I can give you an individualized skin care program to restore moisture, radiance and tone to your skin.
